Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen is enjoying his prime, winning all the possible races which seem to be out of his bounds. Max won the Belgian GP starting P14 after the engine penalties he choose to take. With an obvious expectation of him not winning the race from the back of the grid, he turned all the tables after winning the race with a mind-blowing 18 seconds to his teammate Sergio Perez.

Max Verstappen joined Red Bull back in 2016 and won his first race that season as well. He was accompanied by Daniel Ricciardo as his teammate. Max had tough times fighting Ricciardo at the start of his career but eventually gave Ricciardo a run for his money ultimately beating him at his own game. Max’s only rival to give him a tough fight was Ricciardo who ultimately lost out to him.

After Daniel, none of the drivers was on the level of Max. Verstappen has completely demolished his teammates since 2019. Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 and people expected the Mexican to fight Max on his level but Verstappen touched his prime last season after beating the seven-time world champion. Cut to the present season, no driver on the grid looks like a competition to Max Verstappen.

Sam Brid, who drives for Jaguar in Formula E, gives his views on Max Verstappen’s unrivalled form, “The skills of Max are remarkable, also because Sergio Perez is a very strong driver. Verstappen not only was able to find a little more speed than him, but we are talking about gaining a second per turn, an impressive amount. If I’m within one second of a lap from a teammate of mine, I think what the hell is going on,” said Sam.

Max Verstappen defeated Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 season. The rivals were level pegging on all the occasions, but Sam looks ahead to their teammates and decides his take. Lewis has always been an amazing driver. In his run for the six titles he has won with Mercedes, four of them came when his teammate was Valtteri Bottas.

Valtteri Bottas always stayed under the shadows of Lewis but was comparatively closer to Lewis than any of the teammates Max has had over the years. “He is able to destroy comrades in a way I don’t think I’ve ever seen. I mean, Lewis has dominated Formula 1 for a long time, but he has absolutely not destroyed his teammates like that, I don’t think. Valtteri has been closer to Lewis than anyone has been to Max recently,” said Sam.

Max Verstappen has been very dominant in the 2022 season with no drivers being able to touch his league. Lewis Hamilton, being in a slower car, seems to have been the closest to Max’s level.
