Max Verstappen has been hands down the best driver during the 2022 Formula One season with 6 race wins to his name in only the first 9 rounds of the current season.

Former racing driver, Tom Coronel has recently praised Jos Verstappen for raising a Champion driver like Max Verstappen. It is the common belief that Jos was too hard on Max during his early days but Coronel has said that Jos’ way of raising Max is now bearing fruit from the Verstappen family and Red Bull.

A lot of pressure was put on Max Verstappen when he was relatively new to the sport and Cornonel believes all that early pressure has now started helping the 24-year-old in coping with pressure in F1 well.

While stressing about it Coronel said, “The more pressure, the better Verstappen [is]. He has always said ‘I’ve been brought up with pressure and with a lot more pressure than I have now.’ He has been brought up by Jos [Verstappen].“

“Some people can say it’s not good that you put so much pressure on your kids when you’re so young. But this is what you create, you create a racing monster. Max has coped with it already his whole life so he doesn’t feel it anymore, so it’s positive.”

Max Verstappen always looking to do better

Jos Verstappen’s rigorous work on Max early on in his career has made the 2021 World Champion strong and someone who is never satisfied, who is always looking to improve, to do better than yesterday.

Max is currently leading the Drivers Championship and is showing no signs of slowing down, in Montreal he was the best performer in Qualifying and during the race was also able to keep Carlos Sainz at bay to take the victory in Canada.

Coronel has indicated the Canadian Qualifying as an example of the standard that they have created. “He is always on attack mode. You know the qualification in Canada, I’m like Max, why every outing you have you got to be on top by one second. Why even take the risk. He just puts his middle finger up to everybody. During that qualification, you saw the rest were just filling up the field.“

For Coronel, Max is the best racing driver on the current grid and he is certainly not wrong in thinking so given the statistics that Max has achieved so far.
