“He was second to no one,” Sebastian Vettel joined Ferrari ‘like no other’

After showcasing his dominance for 4 years in Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel moved to Ferrari in 2015 after replacing Fernando Alonso, with whom he had previously fought championship battles. Fans and the team expected to see a 5th World Championship from the German. Until 2018, Vettel fought along Mercedes and shared a healthy rivalry with Lewis Hamilton for the World Championship, but sadly, did not win. A surprising crash during the German Grand Prix of 2018 (after scoring a pole position) saw his performance decline, and was out of the championship battle. 

Sebastian Vettel joined Ferrari to follow the footsteps of his childhood hero, Michael Schumacher, who had won 5 World Championships with the team, and to give the fans another reason to love Ferrari. Although that did not happen, and he was out of the season after the 2020 season, he did manage to gain a lot of respect in the Scuderia’s garage. Even after 2 years of his departure from the team, there have only been positive statements about him, and how he always cooperated with the team and helped each and everyone, and all were equal to him.

Sebastian Vettel was like no other at Ferrari

Laurent Mekies, sporting director of Ferrari, stated that Vettel always respected his colleagues, and his knowledge about the sport was always useful, and there was no one quite like him. “He developed the talent of trying to unite the team, in good times and in bad times. In this he was second to none. In addition, with his talent and dedication, his attention to detail, he has achieved what he has achieved,” Pledge Times quoted him.

Vettel has been one of the most loved people in the sport, ever, and after growing a wide fanbase, achieving the most in F1 and having done almost 2 seasons with Aston Martin post Ferrari, the German recently announced his retirement from the sport at the end of this season, and although this triggered a stream of tears down everyone’s faces, it probably is, for the best.
