Former racing driver Ralf Schumacher has recently indicated that an internal battle is going on at the Red Bull headquarters to decide the top dog at the team between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Schumacher believes that Perez has a shot at the title this season and this has led to a predicament that Red Bull was not expecting. However, has reiterated that Perez would need to maintain his current form throughout the season.

Sergio Perez is in his second season with the Red Bull team and has looked way more comfortable as compared to last season. Perez has been superb this season and after 8 rounds is only 21 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen.

However, deep down Schumacher feels that it is going to be difficult for the Mexican to maintain his current run of form and that Verstappen would be able out-perform Perez in the long run.

Last year when Max was in the 2021 title battle with Lewis, the Dutchman was able to show everyone how consistent he can be as a Formula One driver and since then it has become a hallmark of his racing.

This year also barring a couple of DNFs, Max has been in tremendous form and has already got 5 race wins to his name. While talking about Max’s consistency Schumacher said, “I think Max Verstappen is the most consistent of the two drivers throughout the season.”

Schumacher has put his money on Max Verstappen to win the title ahead of Perez and it will be interesting to see how the season is going to develop from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards.
