After the news of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025 broke out, the biggest question everyone had was which team Carlos Sainz would drive for next year. Sainz is perhaps the most sought-after driver in the driver’s market, and with his recent performances, has amassed interest from various teams including Red Bull.

After his astonishing comeback at the Australian GP, many teams have set their eyes on the Spaniard. Despite going through an appendectomy a mere two weeks before the Melbourne event, the smooth operator secured the victory. Red Bull is the name that’s been heard many times in regards to his possible move.

While talking about the possibility of Sainz’s move to Red Bull, Helmut Marko, the team advisor, gave an interesting take!

Marko has faith in the Red Bull’s second driver, Sergio Perez. As things stand, the Mexican’s contract with the team will come to a close at the of this year. But if the team chooses to pick the Spaniard, then it will be interesting to see how Max Verstappen and Sainz will get along. The pair know each other well from their Toro Rosso(VCARB) days.

Carlos Sainz looking to ‘maximize’ his final year with Ferrari

Carlos Sainz gave a splendid performance at the Australian GP. His contract with Ferrari is slated to end at the close of the ongoing campaign, but despite this, the Spaniard is fully committed to the Maranello-based team.

After the Melbourne event, while talking about the same, Sainz gave his take.

It is a more structured team. We’ve done so much progress with the performance of the car, but also with race execution, weekend execution – it’s a much more solid team than where we were one, two years ago, so I’m proud of that progress. I’m going to maximise this more solid team that we’ve created together during this year to try to put together some more podiums and wins, and see where I’m going next.

It has always been the 29-year-old’s dream to drive for Ferrari and luckily, he got the chance to fully live it. Sainz also joked about being jobless for next year, but in all seriousness, as understood by the media, behind closed doors negotiations for next year have begun with a few teams. After the Australian GP, many team principals have their eyes set on the Spanish driver.
