Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Team adviser, has made it known that Mercedes F1 driver George Russell was the one to blame for the Contact he made with Max Verstappen on the first lap of the Azerbaijan Sprint race. Marko ardently feels that Verstappen could not have done much during Russell’s overly forceful maneuver.

Helmut Marko, while talking about the same, added, “Max was almost pushed into the wall by Russell’s excessively harsh maneuver, and as a result, the car sustained significantly more damage than we initially thought. And that certainly affected its performance. It was an excessively forceful maneuver that caused Max to hit the wall, and Russell has had this happen before. Always using the excuse of cold tires.”

I mean, he’s been around long enough. Such things shouldn’t happen to him.” Looking at the Austrian’s comments, it is clear that he does not approve of George Russell’s way of fighting his driver during the Azerbaijan Sprint race. Moreover, has even gone on to indicate that whenever the young Brit finds himself in an ugly on-track tussle, he puts the blame on cold tires.

Helmut Marko has been seeing F1 cars going around tracks for several years and has a plethora of experience. On the basis of his knowledge of the sport, he believes that Russell should be more careful while getting himself into on-track tussles. The 25-year-old was accused of 1st lap incidents last year as well, against the lights of Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz.

While Helmut Marko is slightly disappointed with George Russell’s antics against Max Verstappen at the Azerbaijan GP weekend, he has got a lot on his plate to be happy about. Red Bull has, so far in the 2023 F1 season, managed to amass victories in all the races. The Milton-Keynes-based team has won four out of four races in the season.

Moreover, both Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have won 2 races each for the team. Everything has going very well for the team with its RB19, and it is looking very likely that much of the same is going to happen in the upcoming races. The RB19 has proved to be like a rocket ship this year, and none of the other teams are yet to find an answer.

Helmut Marko and Co. are in a prime position in both Championships. Considering the level of dominance that the two Red Bull drivers showed against their rivals in Baku, are you expecting them to do the same again at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix? Or do you see someone from rival teams becoming a nuisance for the two prolific Red Bull drivers?
