The Red Bull Formula 1 team has operated on a whole other level during the 2023 F1 season. The outfit has decimated its competition left and right, but despite this fact, Helmut Marko, the Red Bull team adviser, has made it known that the Mercedes F1 team could spoil his team’s party during the upcoming second leg.
Red Bull has been the only team this year that has shown supreme consistency in the season. Still, when it comes to outfits below them, it has been like a merry-go-round where teams like Aston Martin, Mercedes, Ferrari, and even McLaren have taken turns proving themselves better than the others.
While the fight for second place in the Constructors Championship is still wide open, Helmut Marko has told Motorsport Magazine, “If we look behind us at our competitors, it’s difficult to judge, because they always alternate. One day it’s McLaren, then Ferrari, then Aston Martin, or Mercedes.”
“None of those teams are constantly in second place. place behind us, which explains why the gap in the championship is so big. Statistically, Mercedes should be the first team to put us at risk.” The 80-year-old veteran has made it crystal clear that, in his opinion, Mercedes could pose a challenge to Red Bull during the upcoming races.

Helmut Marko and Co. are a happy bunch in 2023
While Helmut Marko has shown a bit of concern toward the potential challenge from the Mercedes F1 team during the upcoming second leg, he is not too fussed about it as Red Bull is comfortably leading both the World Championships, and it is very unlikely that they would lose on either this year.
As things stand, Max Verstappen is leading the driver’s championship with 314 points to his name, whereas Red Bull, on the other hand, is also in full command of the constructor’s championship with a mammoth 503 points to its name. Even if Mercedes can make a significant push during the second leg, it would likely not prove enough.
The F1 extravaganza is hitting the TV screens once again from the 25th of August onward. Considering that the first race after the break is the Dutch GP, several eyes are going to be on the exploits of Red Bull’s most prized possession, Max Verstappen. If he wins in Zandvoort, he would equal Sebastian Vettel’s long-standing F1 record.
