Helmut Marko has been an advisor at Red Bull Racing since 2005. It’s been 19 years now. It is safe to say that Marko has enjoyed an incredible amount of success over this period. It includes Sebastian Vettel’s dominance between 2010 and 2013. Now the team is dominant again with the 25-year-old Max Verstappen. Coming Thursday, Marko will celebrate his 80th birthday.
There have been rumors that the four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel might replace Helmut Marko in Red Bull. Vettel retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season. The German had immense success with Red Bull; he won four world titles consecutively. He then switched to Ferrari, but his Red Bull era remains unmatched. Since Vettel quit the sport, there have been whispers about his comeback.
Helmut Marko addressed the rumors of Vettel returning to Red Bull as an advisor to replace him. He told Blick, “That’s really a bit hasty. My next goal is the third world title with Max Verstappen. We are often in touch. Seb is currently still in the phase of self-discovery. I don’t think he wants to travel to every race again and work more with significantly less pay!”

Sebastian Vettel might return to motorsports
Helmut Marko has dismissed the possibility of Sebastian Vettel’s return to Red Bull for now. However, the future is uncertain. Ever since Vettel retired, the F1 community has been coming up with theories of his return. Though racing is ruled out, the German could possibly take over as a team principal or an advisor if a spot opens up.
Sebastian Vettel retired at the age of 35. Part of the reason why he left F1 was because he did not want to miss his children growing up. He also wanted to focus on his push for sustainability, greater equality, and other changes outside F1. Though the former Aston Martin driver wanted to end his career on a high note, things did not pan out that way.
Vettel is a much-loved personality in the F1 paddock. Yuki Tsunoda once mentioned he would welcome Vettel to replace Franz Tost as the AlphaTauri team boss. After 15 years, four championships, 53 wins, 122 podium finishes, and 57 pole positions, Sebastian Vettel retired from racing. He will go down as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1. However, the streets are saying he might be back.
