Helmut Marko is one of the major pillars around whom the Red Bull team has been built over the years. He has been associated with the pinnacle of motor racing for a long time. While Formula 1 is on summer break, he has given an update regarding his future/retirement plans in the sport.

Helmut Marko, alongside Christian Horner, has brilliantly led the Red Bull team into the Champion outfit it has become. Moreover, he is the head of the Austrian outfit’s junior driver program. He has got a lot of pull when it comes to the decisions that are made around the main Red Bull team and also the Faenza-based AlphaTauri.

Marko is currently 80 years old, and while a lot of doubts regarding his F1 future have been raised recently, he told Motorsports Magazine, “As long as I am mentally and physically fit, and I am there with fascination and enthusiasm, and as long as those responsible give me the chance to continue here, I will do the same.”

I don’t feel like an old man limping. As long as I can make a positive contribution, that is the decisive thing.” The F1 veteran has made it clear that he feels fit enough to keep doing what he’s doing, and the rest he has left to the Red Bulls hierarchy to decide as to how long they want to reap the benefits of his services.

While Helmut Marko has admitted that he is willing to do his best for as long as possible for Red Bull’s cause, he has many reasons to smile as far as the 2023 F1 season is concerned. Max Verstappen has perfectly led the outfit’s push, and the Austrian team comfortably sitts at the top of both standings.

As things stand, Verstappen has managed 314 points in the Drivers Championship, and Red Bull, on the other hand, is also at the top of the pile with a mammoth 503 points to its name. Their level of dominance can be understood from the fact that Marko and Co. have won all the races so far in the season.

The ongoing campaign is returning for its second leg on the 25th of August, and Christian Horner has recently admitted that Red Bull will again try and win all the races. However, considering the might of some of the other teams around them, it is not going to be like a walk in the park.
