The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix was full of drama and excitement where Max Verstappen emerged as the top of his class. Despite unpredictable weather conditions, nothing could stop the Red Bull driver as he went on to take his 9th consecutive race win. With Zandvoort being his home race, there seemed to be added pressure and nervousness ahead of the race but nothing seemed to affect Max.
The Red Bull driver claimed that he was a bit nervous when the Dutch national anthem played before the race. Nevertheless, he went on to outclass the rest of the grid and emerged victorious. With this victory under his belt, Max had now equalled Sebastian Vettel’s longstanding record of 9 consecutive race wins. This is a record that stood for ten whole years until Max came into the scene. Red Bull, Dr Helmut Marko has gone on to applaud him for his efforts.
Here is what he had to say in an interview. “I don’t what could be done better,” Red Bull Motorsport Advisor Marko told Viaplay. “This was unprecedented, it doesn’t matter if it is wet or dry, he ‘reads’ the race, takes care of his tyres and remains so very calm. That is impressive with so much emotion (at his home race), he is under so much pressure,” he said. “All periods in the sport are different, but Max is exceptional. He is undoubtedly one of the top drivers of all time. The competition is getting stronger and stronger,” he continued.
Max Verstappen has now won 11 out of the 13 races in the 2023 F1 season
The Dutchman, along with Red Bull, have gone on to impress the whole paddock with their levels of dominance this season. Even after 13 races, Red Bull stands strong as they have won every single grand prix. While Sergio Perez has two wins under his belt, Max Verstappen has close to a dozen wins (11) this season. Max had won 15 races last year. It looks like that record could also be broken in 2023.
Max Verstappen has been a part of Red Bull Racing ever since he was a teenager. Looking at him now, Dr. Helmut Marko has gone on to appreciate the efforts that he has made and the progress that he has done. With his current form in 2023, there is a huge possibility that he will win his third championship even before the season actually ends. The next few remaining races will be interesting to watch.
