Helmut Marko quips up at Lewis Hamilton’s sudden exit from Mercedes, hopes this would ‘weaken’ the Silver Arrows
Helmut Marko has always been critical of Mercedes as they are Red Bull's direct rivals in F1 and now that Lewis Hamilton is leaving the Silver Arrows, the Austrian thinks Mercedes' time under the spotlight is over.

The biggest news that came out during the currently ongoing Formula 1 season break post the 2023 campaign is perhaps Lewis Hamilton‘s transfer reports to Ferrari. The Mercedes racer, after spending 12 years with the Silver Arrows, has finally taken the astonishing step of leaving the team that has helped him win six of his World Champions. He has reportedly signed a multi-year contract with Ferrari as he activated the exit clause of his current deal with Mercedes.
While Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes has come as a big shock to all the Mercedes and LH44 fans who always believed the driver-team pairing of Lewis and Mercedes just goes too well with each other. And now that Hamilton is not going to be there at the Stuttgart outfit anymore, there are some stakeholders of Mercedes’ opponent team to palpate the weak spot of the German manufacturers now that Lewis Hamilton has left them.
However, Red Bull Chief Advisor Helmut Marko has made his opinions be known for the future that awaits the Silver Arrows now that Lewis Hamilton is confirmed to exit Mercedes in 2025.
No piece of paper would fit between the two (Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton). But a Ferrari contract would! I see it as weakening Mercedes.Helmut Marko said, as reported by Express Sports UK.
Helmut Marko admits he is unsure if Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari will be fruitful
In his 18 years as a Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton has only switched teams once, and he has won seven World Championships during his tenures at McLaren and Mercedes. Now, he is slated to move to Maranello for a stint at the legacy team of Ferrari. But Helmut Marko is unsure whether Lewis will find similar success at the Scuderia as he had had at McLaren and Mercedes.

Speaking of whether Hamilton moving to Ferrari will strengthen the Italian outfit or not, Marko’s response remained quite vague.
Whether it strengthens Ferrari remains to be seen. Overall, this has an incredible impact, right down to the stock market prices. It’s great that something is happening.Helmut Marko said, as reported by Express Sports UK.
In other news, Lewis Hamilton will be seen driving alongside Ferrari prince Charles Leclerc in the upcoming 2025 season. Leclerc and only a few other stakeholders had the insider information that the Briton was coming to Ferrari before the news was made public as their Chairman John Elkann wanted to treat the news as top secret until the right time came along.
