The Red Bull contracted driver, Liam Lawson had a fascinating campaign during the 2023 F1 season. From racing in the Japanese Formula to suddenly being entrusted into the AlphaTauri’s AT04, he had quite a ride. While Lawson is not on the 2924 F1 grid, the Red Bull team adviser, Helmut Marko has laid the criteria for him to secure a 2025 F1 drive.

During the 2023 campaign, Liam Lawson was asked to stand in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo from Zandvoort onward. He competed in a few races for Alphatauri, and in those few outings, impressed one and all his prolific racing skills and the composure he showed fighting it out with the F1 elite.

The 80-year-old veteran of the pinnacle of motor racing, Helmut is well aware of Lawson’s F1 situation, and keeping it in view, the Austrian has recently said, as reported by LWOS;

Yes, and before that, he should at least drive a few more races. So that we can see where his potential really lies.

Looking at the reaction, it is quite clear that the Red Bull group is somehow going to try and give Lawson some F1 opportunities during the 2024 season. Marko has deemed five outings as the ideal number which would help him and the team understand the New Zealander’s potential.

Liam Lawson could be seen racing for AlphaTauri in 2025 permanently

While Helmut Marko has revealed what Liam Lawson needs to do in order to secure a 2025 F1 seat, the latter’s most likely future for 2025 could lie with the Faenza-based AlphaTauri F1 team. The Italian outfit put Lawson on the map by giving him an opportunity this year.

Had they not done that, he might not have been in the F1 picture for at least a few more years. Moreover, one of AlphaTauri’s main purposes for operating at the pinnacle of motor racing is to make drivers ready to step up and drive alongside the lights of Max Verstappen at the Red Bull F1 team.

Liam Lawson is only 21 years old and has a bright future ahead of him. If he can secure a permanent racing seat in 2025, it will then bode well for him to achieve his F1 targets. As any other driver stepping up into F1, his main goal will be to keep on racing in the sport for as long as possible.
