Following the 2019 season, Toro Rosso underwent a rebranding to become AlphaTauri, adopting the name of a clothing brand. After Pierre Gasly’s podium at Baku in 2021, the team’s performance has been below expectations in the past year and a half. Hence Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko announced that the Faenza-based team will undergo a rebranding in the 2024 season.
Helmut Marko made it clear that the plan is to follow Red Bull Racing as far as the regulations permit and not pursue the path of designing their own regulations. He also states that Red Bull’s sister team will have a new name and a new sponsor for the 2024 Formula season. However, it remains unconfirmed whether Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries will continue with the team.
“The course is clear: Follow Red Bull Racing as far as the regulations allow. Designing your own is not the way,” said the 80-year-old Red Bull advisor. But there is more, as the AlphaTauri name will be discarded. “There will be new sponsors and a new name,” he concluded.

Will AlphaTauri’s rebranding include Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda in their lineup?
After his miracle drive at Monza in 2022, substituting for Williams driver Alex Albon, Nyck de Vries has not delivered solid results. After 8 races in the season the rookie driver has not managed to score a single point. Whereas, his teammate Yuki Tsunoda has 2 points to his name.
Helmut Marko has been vocal about his disappointment regarding AlphaTauri. He acknowledged Yuk Tsunoda‘s strong season despite unfortunate results and penalties. However, the team’s satisfaction with Nyck de Vries remains unsatisfactory, prompting a thorough evaluation.
“Basically, Yuki is having a very good season with unfortunate results and penalties, but the performance is right,” Marko added. “With Nyck de Vries, however, we are not satisfied, we are looking at that as well,” said the Austrian.
After drawing decent results in the midfield since 2019, AlphaTauri now finds themselves at the bottom of the drivers’ standings. In the first 8 races of this season, the Italian team has only managed to score 2 points. With a team having such close ties to Red Bull, AlphaTauri has not capitalized on opportunities like their sister team.
