The French Grand Prix marked the 4th consecutive podium for Lewis Hamilton this year, and a first double podium of the season for the team as they scored the maximum points they have in the entire season. The French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard also marked Hamilton’s 300th race start, making him the 5th driver ever to achieve this. Damon Hill, former F1 driver is impressed by the Brit, and after this amazing, consecutive performance, he thinks that Hamilton is a true team leader, and a face for the entire team.
Mercedes have had a slow start as the W13 failed to cope with the new aerodynamic regulations, and the violent bouncing left the team at the back of the grid. But this recovery by both the British drivers is proving out to be worthy enough, and this is even leading them back to the top of the grid now. There has been both development and luck for the team. It wouldn’t have been so easy for Mercedes to develop if they did not have a good position in the standings, but George Russell managed to finish above P5 in most of the races, and with a few more points from Hamilton, the team managed to secure 3rd place in the standings.

Lewis Hamilton is the face of the team according to Hill
After an impressive race in at Paul Ricard, Hill said, “His class is there for all to see. He is able to read races and give him a competitive car then it will be tight between him and George,” as GPblog quoted.
“Lewis has stepped up to the role of mature and experienced guy who is bringing on George and the whole team. Red Bull have said Mercedes are catching up bit by bit,” he continued.
After this race, Hamilton now has right behind Russell with 127 points.
