The Hungarian Grand Prix has secured its place on the F1 calendar for an extended period by signing a new deal. Exciting news for racing fans, as the iconic Hungaroring will now be a part of the F1 schedule until at least 2032. The announcement of this long-term commitment came just before the qualifying session for this year’s event.
Since its debut in 1986, the Budapest-based venue has maintained an impressive streak. This makes it the second-longest continuous feature on the F1 calendar, surpassed only by Monza. This historic streak will continue beyond the existing deal, which was originally set to run until 2027.
The upcoming development and refurbishment plans for the venue influenced F1’s decision to lock in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The renovation will include adding a new pit building and a main grandstand. With these exciting developments and the assurance of a long-term presence, racing enthusiasts can look forward to many more thrilling races and memorable moments at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Las Vegas joins the F1 calendar, while Hungaroring’s legacy extends
With Las Vegas introduced as a new location on the racing calendar, Formula One has made efforts to commit to older tracks. Earlier this month, the extension of the Austrian GP contract too had been announced. The Hungaoring CEO, President Zsolt Gyulay, expressed his gratefulness for this signing.
Gyulay conveyed pride and honor in agreeing to the contract extension. He also highlighted that they would complete the updates to their circuit, including the Main Paddock Building, Main Grandstand, and Spectator Zones, by 2026. They aimed to host teams and fans at a world-class venue, prioritizing their satisfaction for an F1 race weekend.
“The updates to our famous circuit – which include renovations to our Main Paddock Building, Main Grandstand and Spectator Zones – are expected to be completed by 2026. It will be a source of great satisfaction to host the teams and fans, who will always be our main priority, at a world-class venue that will reflect the high standards you come to expect,” he explained.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton dominates the Hungarian Grand Prix records with an astonishing lap time of 1:16.627, firmly securing the lap record. He also claims an incredible record number of eight victories at this iconic track, establishing himself as the undisputed master of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
