“I didn’t expect us to start the year as competitively as we have” : Christian Horner
The Formula 1 introduced new rules and regulations coming into the 2022 season. This presented each team on the grid with a blank piece of canvas and to design their cars as they deemed most appropriate under the new rules. Many teams stopped developing their 2021 car before the summer break itself, to dedicate their resources towards this new era of the sport. The teams who have come out as the frontrunners in this fresh season are the Red Bull and the Ferrari.
The Milton Keynes based team were locked in a year long battle in 2021 with the Mercedes. The team were in a cut-throat battle which resulted in them developing their RB16B until the season finale. This set the Austrian racing stable on the back foot walking into the 2022 season, but the team have managed to set the pace benchmark so far. Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner admitted that he did not expect this kind of pace from its new package.

The RB18 has faced multiple reliability issues but surely is a competitive package. Red Bull boss, Christian Horner commented on this by saying ”Having put so much effort into last year’s car, to come on to these new regulations, we elected to take that risk because we had an opportunity to win last year and you’ve got to go for it.”

The team is led by Christian Horner for 17 years now, who keeps pushing his squad to achieve all the success in the sport. He further spoke highly about his crew by adding ”I think testimony to all the team for doing such a phenomenal job in such a short space of time. Personally, I didn’t expect us to start the year as competitively as we have.“
Currently, they stand 2nd in the constructors championship with having scored 151 points. They only view a deficit of 7 points to the Ferrari team at the top. The driver line up for Red Bull consists of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Both of these drivers are on top of their game and would give their everything to help Red Bull clinch the title in 2022.
