Lewis Hamilton is contracted with the Mercedes Formula One team until the end of the 2023 F1 season and ahead of the Italian Grand Prix has dismissed any rumors of him planning to retire from the sport.

Lewis Hamilton’s retirement was a hot topic of discussion during the break after the end of the 2021 season and while the Brit made the return to the sport for the current campaign, it again picked up pace when during Thursday’s press conference he was asked to give his take on his retirement plans.

The Brit while talking about his retirement plans said, “Look, for years, we’ll be going around, up and down with the stories of retirement and stopping, and for meI feel healthier than I’ve ever felt; as I focus a lot on that, I’m feeling fit.

“I love what I’m doing – and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon – sorry buddy [talking to Ricciardo] – but I’m very… my goal was always to be with Mercedes.

“I signed with them in 1997. I love that we have the long partnership we have. I feel like we are embarking on a lot of really positive, not only in the sport but outside.

“So I want to be a part of that. I think I’ll always be with Mercedes ’til the day I die. And I feel like I can race for quite a bit longer. So I’ll be potentially steering towards that.”

As things stand, Lewis Hamilton is currently tied with Michael Schumacher on seven World Championships and came extremely close to winning his eighth last year when Michael Masi’s controversial call handed the 2021 World Championship.to Max Verstappen.

Moreover, the Brit came into 2022 with the hope of challenging for the title again, but with the dawn of the new regulations, Mercedes have taken a step in the backward direction and after 15 rounds, is completely out of the Championship fight.

The W13 has not proved good enough to challenge Red Bull and Ferrari and this has affected Hamilton dearly in his attempt to win his record-breaking eighth world title.

However, with Lewis Hamilton indicating that he wants to continue in F1 for a foreseeable future, there are chances that he would be able to win what he has been craving since the end of the 2021 season.
