“I expect a performance ‘pendulum’ between Red Bull and Ferrari,” Adrian Newey expects a topsy-turvy season for both teams

Red Bull and Ferrari have been the teams to beat this , with both of trading blows one after the turn. After the immensely successful season enjoy by Red Bull and Max Verstappen, we all expected them to be runaway winners of this season around. But, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc had different ideas. The Italian Giants have been quickly off the blocks and have caught Red Bull by surprise as they slenderly lead both the championships.
But this season is as much a battle off the track as much as on it. Upgrades will play a major role in deciding the championship. In the last few races, it has been Red Bull who has had an edge over Ferrari, courtesy to their superior speeds on the straights which gives them enough breathing space in the slower corners where Ferrari clearly carries more speed. We saw an example of the same in Miami.
Red Bull has been partially able to get on top of their reliability issues, which has costed them a handful of points, but still there’s a lot of work that needs to be done. The Milton-Keynes team also needs to work hard to make their car lighter and slimmer if they want to continue their charge to the top. On the other hand, Ferrari has their work cut out when it comes to the top speeds on the straights.
Adrian Newey reveals that the fight between Red Bull and Ferrari can very well go down to the wire
Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey recently revealed that it’ll be difficult to choose a clear favorite throughout the season and it could go either way. He said, ““Red Bull is two tenths ahead, now it’s up to us to develop. The Miami win was a surprise, we can’t say that things are looking good for us. It is certainly not the time to relax, but to work even harder ”.
“The asphalt was very particular because they used granite as a substrate and this triggered a different behavior of the tires compared to the first four races .“
“A year ago we seemed invincible and then in the next race it wasn’t like that. I expect a performance ‘pendulum’ between us and Ferrari in this 2022 ,” as reported by formulapassion.
The fight between Red Bull and Ferrari is intensifying as both looks to grab the bragging rights. From the evidence in front of us, it’s very much possible that it might go to the wire, as indicated by Adrian Newey.
