Lewis Hamilton, just a while ago, crossed the chequered flag at the United States Grand Prix in P2 and while discussing his exploits, has indicated that he was extremely close to securing his first Grand Prix win of the 2022 F1 season.

Lewis Hamilton was in a very favorable position at one point in the race as Red Bull did a blunder with Max Verstappen’s pit stop and put him in a tough position.

However, despite coming out a bit further back than Verstappen ideally would have wanted, he was able to get the better of Hamilton by the dying stages of the race.

Lewis Hamilton came extremely close to winning his first Grand Prix of 2022 but it just wasn’t to be, and while talking about his outing, the Brit added, “A big shoutout to my team, we came with upgrades. We closed the gap a little bit, so so close! Did everything I could to stay ahead but they were just a little too quick today.

Great strategy. The car was a handful, it felt amazing to be in the lead. We’ve been working so hard on that, I felt so much hope. We will keep pushing. It will come to us at some stage.”

Lewis Hamilton put in a tremendous shift for the Brackley-based Mercedes Team at the Circuit of the Americas, and while he received a lot of applause for his exploits, during his post-race interview, he took the time to come up with a special message for the Red Bull team following the death of its owner, Dietrich Mateschitz.

Hamilton while talking about the Milton-Keynes-based team said, “Great race from Red Bull, and my condolences to the team.”

The Brit has congratulated the Austrian team on securing the 2022 Constructors title, and at the same time, paid his condolences in memory of Mateschitz.
