“I have achieved everything without any gifts,” Sergio Perez looking for no favours from Max Verstappen at his home Mexican GP

Sergio Perez was on the podium in the 2021 Mexico GP, his first-ever podium at his home. Though he couldn’t win that race with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen fighting for the title. Mexicans were pretty pleased with the reception they got after a Red Bull win and the national hero on their podium.
But 2021 had two rivals fighting for the ultimate goal and Sergio Perez was used as a wingman to Max Verstappen’s victory, which he played brilliantly. 2022 was set off in a very different manner, after a ‘great depression’ at the starting three races, Red Bull, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez started to fight back.
As the United States Grand Prix saw an end with Verstappen’s victory it also covered Red Bull’s fight for their fifth title in a very simple manner. As the people now expect Max Verstappen to help his teammate for the victory at his home, gifting him the win, Perez doesn’t want it: “I don’t need to be given anything, I have achieved everything without any gifts for so many years,” said Perez as per RN365.

Sergio Perez expects himself to succeed on his own

Sergio Perez has been having his best season with multiple wins and podiums throughout the season. Though he couldn’t really fight for the title he still looked like a very strong competitor for the top at the start of the season. Winning at Mexico could possible be a bucket list marked target for Perez.
Though he has his teammate as his rival and he understands how strong he is, Perez would still go on for the win, especially as Verstappen and Red Bull might be a little more relaxed now, and there are unlikely to be any team orders (not like Verstappen has needed them): “In the end, I don’t think about it, I think about my job, about being perfect this weekend and looking for that victory.”
Max Verstappen had help from Perez, the biggest help in Abu Dhabi last year, and people want him to return the favour. But Perez does understand Verstappen very well and knows he won’t let go of things very easy: “You need to be mentally very strong to be a teammate of Max at Red Bull,” said Perez.
Red Bull won the 2022 title in the United States Grand Prix, and Max Verstappen had already sealed the title in Japan. With three races left in the season, Perez is in a fight for P2 with Leclerc, and a win in Mexico will help him quite a bit in that regard.
