The 23-year-old has shown massive growth in the first leg of the 2022 season but has been left slightly disappointed by the reliability issues on his car. Guanyu in the first 13 races has retired 5 times and most of it has been due to the recurring mechanical issues that the Sauber team has faced this season.

Reliability has been a major source of concern for Alfa Romeo and it has not only been Zhou who has suffered from problems, but his teammate Valtteri Bottas has also had his share of DNFs this season.

Zhou had a rollercoaster ride during the first leg of the season and now feels that he has experienced everything that an F1 driver goes through in 10 years worth of time.

While stressing about it, Zhou said, “For 11 races or 10 races less, I felt like I had experienced all the things an F1 driver goes through in 10 years.”

Zhou has given a special indication of the horrifying crash that he had in Silverstone, the young Chinese crashed at high speed and went flying over the barriers and into the guard rail.

The 23-year-old has managed to land his car in Q3 twice this season and has also got 5 points to his name, however, he believes that the situation could have been even better had he not had many DNFs in the season.

The Achilles heel of the Alfa Romeo team is their car’s reliability and given that F1 is currently off the TV screens, the 1-month break is a great opportunity to sort out the problems so that Zhou and Co. can deliver on track and bring more points for the team.
