Max Verstappen won the final race of the 2022 F1 season, but former driver, Jam Lammers feels that the Dutchman was not pleased with the booing that came his way.
Max Verstappen was heavily booed by fans at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Sao Paulo GP saga between him and Sergio Perez.
The fans had quite a strong reaction to the Dutchman in Abu Dhabi and Jam Lammers while sympathizing with him, added, “I do feel a bit sorry for him at times when he gets booed.”
“Then I think: ‘What’s the guy actually doing wrong? What do you want from a racing driver?’ If you really are a motorsport fan, how much better do you want it?”
The former F1 driver is not happy with how the fans reacted toward the 2022 World Champion and think that it could have been avoided.
In his opinion, Verstappen did exactly what a racing driver is supposed to do, and does not blame him for letting his racing instincts get the better of him at Interlagos.
Jan Lammers feels that Max Verstappen did his best in trying to hide his displeasure against the fan’s reactions
Max Verstappen is someone, who is known for not hiding his emotions, be they good or bad, but Lammers believes, that the 25-year-old hid his emotions in Abu Dhabi.
He further added, “I still have the impression that I see a kind of sadness in his eyes. He talks, but then he also looks around and thinks, ‘What’s going on?
While Lammers noticed a bit of sadness in Verstappen during last weekend, the 2022 season is finally under wraps.
The winter break will help Max Verstappen in recharging his batteries for next year, and it will be fascinating to see him take on F1 tracks again in 2023.
The prolific Dutchman would come into next season as a former 2-time World Champion and will prefer to carry from where he left off during this year’s season.
However, it is not going to be easy as Ferrari would look to set things straight with Red Bull, and who knows, Mercedes might also end up fighting for the Championship.
