“I think sector three was really weak for us,” Sergio Perez discloses Red Bull’s frailties and its deficit to Ferrari at the Australian GP

Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez registered his first podium of this new season at the Australian GP but the RB-18 was no match for Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. The Monegasque driver looked in a league of his own as he won the Grand Prix with a margin of more than 20 seconds to Sergio Perez who was also clocking some serious pace. Red Bull has its work cut out if they want to compete with the ultra fast Ferrari.
We all thought that it would be more even in Australia as the circuit had 3 DRS zones, which was expected to be a big advantage for the Red Bulls. But the Red Bull couldn’t be in the DRS detection zone for most part of the race as it was losing so much time on the slower corners. Although Charles Leclerc experienced a lot of porpoising, he still seemed to have full control over the car going into the slower corners.
Sergio Perez recently came out and expressed his dissatisfaction over how much slower the RB-18 was in the last sector. Both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have complained about the car time and again and we are just 3 races into the season. To make matters worse, Ferrari has been a step ahead of the Austrian Racing team every time they seemed to have shown the pace to go on and win the race.

Sergio Perez expressed his dissatisfaction over the non-competitive nature of the RB-18 at the Australian GP

Sergio Perez recently revealed what he was lacking at the Australian GP. He said, “I think it is part of our issue.”
“I think sector three was really weak for us and we had to make a lot of compromises for that, which really affected us throughout the circuit.”
“So yeah, it shows in that corner particularly… We are very sensitive, and it’s really easy to get it wrong.”
“Well, it was a shame they took the DRS out because I think the racing could have been a bit better with it,” as reported by gpfans.
Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have been let down by Red Bull time and again this season. So, it’s about time for Red Bull to up their game and fix their issues for the driver to have a fighting chance.
