Seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has been an advocate for human rights even before he stepped into the world F1, having faced discrimination due to the colour of his skin and his family background, he has used his influence and fanbase to preach about equal human rights for everyone in the world.

He has even faced significant discrimination in the world of F1 and has urged the management to push for human rights so that future drivers would not have to suffer what he went through. There have been some fans that have openly expressed their discontent for Hamilton because of the colour of his skin and these fans. F1 took to Instagram to upload a video in which drivers and several notable officials spoke out against racism and discrimination against the drivers on the grid and have debunked these fans from the F1 community.

Several notable public figures have spoken out in support of Hamilton’s efforts in this endeavour, including tennis superstar Serena Williams who is not only a close friend of Hamilton but a woman of colour herself and understands what the 37-year-old British driver is fighting against.

Mercedes have gone on Instagram to post a quote by Hamilton in which he explains his struggle to reach where he is right now. The post shows a quote by Hamilton explaining his struggles and is being used by the United Nation Human Rights Council to show that the Seven-time World Champion was a refugee once and has faced rampant discrimination due to his colour and background in his career.

The support by the fans and notable celebrity figures is unreal and goes to show important this fight against discrimination is and how many people support it. It is a well-known but saddening fact that in every sport’s history there have been at least a few cases of discrimination based on colour, religion, or creed.

Mercedes with their post have shown their support for Hamilton in this fight against discrimination. This goes to show how adored and loved the 37-year-old British driver is within the Formula 1 community and the world and his quest for change will not stop even after he leaves the sport.
