Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have emerged as the two clear challenger for the world title this year around. Although Sergio Perez has closed the gap on the two after his win in Monaco but we’ll have to wait and see if the Mexican can produce the goods week in and week out before we speak of him in the same breath as Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.

Out of 7 races in the season, Max Verstappen as gone on to win 4 while Charles Leclerc has won 2. It could have been even had the Monegasque driver not retired in Spain due to a technical issue. Both of them are not strangers to each other as the duo has been locking horns and going wheel to wheel ever since their karting days. But, this is the stage where the bragging rights are up for grabs and neither of them will leave any stones unturned to defeat the other.

The word around the paddock has always been that Max Verstappen is the most talented youngster amongst the young breed that has come in and there have been a lot of them who have impressed. Talking of one of those talented youngsters, Guanyu Zhou is having a decent start to his rookie season. While the likes of George Russell had to struggle before they could secure that first F1 points finish, the Chinese driver has already done that.

Guanyu Zhou has revealed that he would want Charles Leclerc to win the title over Max Verstappen

Guanyu Zhou must be used to be put in a spot during the race but he was also put in a spot in a recent interview where he was asked about who he fancies to win the championship. He said, “To be honest, I would like Charles to win.”

“But I think Red Bull are looking very strong at the minute. They keep getting faster so it’s a tough one, but I do like to have a different world champion every year.“

“He’s a good friend in the paddock, so I have to put money on him! “This year, Red Bull and Ferrari are clearly ahead,” as reported by racingnews365.

To be honest, both of them are top notch drivers and it wouldn’t have been surprising if Guanyu Zhou would have gone the other way around. It’ll be down to the driver who makes less mistakes provided the upgrades are neck and neck.
