“I would never, never blame Lewis,” Alex Albon opines on his tumultuous Red Bull stint

Alex and Lewis

Alex Albon the current Williams Formula One driver has recently via a podcast shared his thoughts regarding the time he spent as a Red Bull driver and how it could have gone a bit different.

Alex Albon has stressed that he does not blame Lewis Hamilton for his F1 career despite Hamilton being the one who cost the 26-year-old two good podium finishes during his time at Red Bull.

Ever since Pierre Gasly’s demotion and Alex Albon’s arrival during midseason in 2019 the Thai-British driver was under the keen eyes of all the Formula One fanatics as back then he was a raw commodity who fast-tracked into the sport.

Albon struggled during his time at Red Bull and recently accepted that he was under tremendous pressure back then to produce results.

Albon was twice denied a podium finish by Lewis Hamilton and if that hadn’t occurred his F1 career could have gone in a different direction.

While talking about his time Albon recently admitted that good results would have helped him in having a clearer mindset during his tough time at Red Bull.

I do remember in one of the races I was getting bashed like ‘where’s your performance?’ and I was like ‘Hold on a minute, it wasn’t even that bad, everyone chill out a bit,’” he said.

I think a result would have quietened everything down. I would have had the next six, seven races with a bit less of that noise because the noise started from the very first race of the year it was there. It was quite intense.”

Alex Albon during his Red Bull career came close twice to getting on the podium that has eluded him till now and the first instant was in Brazil when he was looking set for a podium finish but was clipped from behind by Hamilton and went on to finish the race in a disappointing P14.

The very next year during the Austria GP Albon was looking good for his first race win in F1 and that time around also it was Hamilton who cost the Thai-British driver dearly.

After the crash, Albon was heard on the radio saying, “This guy is such a sore loser!” but two years on Albon does not blame Hamilton for his Red Bull career.

I would never, never blame Lewis for what’s happened to me. It’s all on me,” Albon said.

Albon currently is doing his trade at Williams and would be hoping that Red Bull is going to keep him in their plans as Red Bull is the best opportunity where he could get a chance to finish on the podium.
