“I wouldn’t say Brazil is going to suit us,” Lando Norris ‘extremely skeptical’ about a decent result at Interlagos
Lando Norris
Lando Norris, the McLaren F1 driver has recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix and indicated that he is not very confident about securing a decent result.
Lando Norris has been the driver who has done most of the heavy lifting for the papaya-colored team, as so far in the season, the Brit has amassed over 100 points. In contrast, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo has struggled massively.
Moreover, with Interlagos next on the F1 calendar and McLaren’s in-form driver, Norris feeling anxious about his team’s chances, these are worrying signs for the whole outfit.
While stressing about why the thought of Interlagos is not allowing him to get a good night’s sleep, he added, “I wouldn’t say Brazil is going to suit us at all with the balance of the car and our struggles.”
“I think even the last few races we’ve not been the quickest car or quick enough – we’ve just done a better job with the strategy and with reliability to at least get to the chequered flag.”
Lando Norris and Co. have got a steep task ahead of them in Brazil
While Lando has proved to be the ‘best among the rest of the drivers’ this year, his team is currently not where they would ideally like to be. After 20 rounds, McLaren is in the fifth position in the Constructors Championship behind their 2022 rivals, the Alpine F1 team.
However, the gap between the two outfits is only seven points, and they can overtake the French team if the MCL36 works better than Alpine’s A522 in Brazil.
The race at Interlagos is the penultimate race of the season, and Lando Norris would again have to step up to overtake, or at least keep his team in the fight for the fourth position going into the final round in Abu Dhabi.
Because Ricciardo has been struggling on the other side of the garage, not a lot can be expected from him, but the way Norris has shown concern about the team’s chances at Interlagos, these are ominous signs and the race could turn out to be a weekend to forget for the Woking-based team.
