This season, Mick Schumacher appears to be struggling to catch up with the rest of the drivers on the grid. He is still yet to score any points for his team, and he was involved in a collision with Sebastian Vettel at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix at the Miami International Autodrome. Haas’ team principal Guenther Steiner acknowledges that he must improve.

The Haas team boss has been there on Formula One for a long time and understands what the motorsport expects from drivers. Steiner believes that a great number is possible with the current car because F1 returnee Kevin Magnussen has done a fantastic job since his comeback, having brought in fifteen points so far.

Kevin Magnussen is ranked 10th on the drivers’ leaderboard currently with 15 points while Mick Schumacher is at the bottom of the leaderboard with Aston Martin’s Nico Hulkenberg who acted as Sebastian Vettel’s temporary replacement, and Williams’ Nicholas Latifi.

Mick Schumacher, on the other hand, appears to require more time to get better at his results and become a consistent driver for his team. Steiner assures that he will devote that time to the talent, wishing to recoup it later.

“I wouldn’t say that Mick has made a big step over the winter. But he knows that and he also has a good chance to get his first points. I hope he gets those to his name sooner rather than later, because we want him to score points as well. He is becoming more mature,” added Guenther Steiner.

The 10 teams on the grid will again reassemble from 20 May-22 May 2022 along with their drivers for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
