Nico Rosberg the 2016 Formula One Champion has been left immensely dissatisfied with the Silver Arrows strategy call that cost Lewis Hamilton a potential first Grand Prix win of the 2022 F1 season.

Max Verstappen was able to secure the victory in front of his home fans and Rosberg ardently believes that Mercedes played a slight part in it by not allowing Lewis Hamilton to dive into the pits when Valtteri bottas triggered the safety car.

In the opinion of the German, Mercedes could never have won the race with the strategy that they deployed and while talking about it said, “If you decide to take a risk to go for the win, as they wanted to do with keeping Lewis Hamilton on the medium, then do it properly!”

Nico Rosberg feels that George Russell should not have been allowed to come into the pits, as in his opinion, it would have helped Hamilton in taking the fight to Max Verstappen.

Moreover, had George not changed tires under the safety car, Max would have been forced to overtake both Mercedes in order to win, and this is where Rosberg felt the German team missed a trick.

In Zandvoort, Mercedes had a really good chance of securing a win that has eluded them so far in the season, but as per Rosberg, the strategy that the Brackley-based team deployed was never going to work.

While stressing over it, the German said, “The way they did it now was just never really gonna work because Max was too quick from the get-go with that soft tire.”

Max was super quick on the soft tires and went passed Hamilton immediately as the race got going again, moreover, to increase the 37-year-old’s agony further, he was also overtaken by George Russell and Charles Leclerc, which cost him a podium place. Rosberg while stressing over Hamilton’s potential podium said, “That’s really not a nice feeling, trust me on that one.”
