‘I’m a team player’: Kevin Magnussen determined to help out Mick Schumacher and build on the impressive run of results for Haas

Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher
Kevin Magnussen has been impressive ever since his return to F1 but wasn’t getting a lot of team mate, Mick Schumacher. The German prodigy didn’t have a single point in the first 9 races of the season. But, his fate changed at Silverstone when he scored his first ever points in F1. Mick finished behind reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, after a brilliant tussle.
We always knew that Mick had the talent to to do but it was about time for him to convert those impressive drives into substantial points as the pressure was mounting on him and Guenther Steiner. But, it seems like the British GP has instilled Mick with confidence and that showed in Austria. He now has back to back points finish for Haas as he finished P8, two places ahead of Kevin Magnussen.
Mick Schumacher wasn’t happy with the team on Saturday after the sprint as he just fell off the points scoring positions in the dying stages. The 23 year old was seen asking the team to let him pass as he felt that he was fastr than Kevin Magnussen. But the team decided against giving team orders, which eventually costed Mick that one point as he was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton.

Kevin Magnussen intends to help Mick Schumacher which would in turn help Haas

Kevin Magnussen has given his opinion on this whole issue regarding him and his team mate. He said, “I won’t block him if he’s faster, and slow down the team. I’m here to help the team, not to win the World Championship.”
“Hopefully the latter happens, but for them I’m a team player.”
“I’m very happy with the double points scored. If I had been running crazy blocks [against Schumacher] we might not have scored any points.”
“We are seventh in the championship. We need both drivers to perform well. It’s more difficult for the team if only one of the two is scoring points.”
It’s very mature of Kevin Magnussen to handle the situation in the way he has decided to. It usually gets ugly between team mates but the Dane understands the situation Haas finds itself in.
