Lance Stroll, Aston Martin driver, admits to having a lack of confidence in his AMR-22 and with the set-up, the green car comes out with every weekend. Lance is struggling in the first half of the 2022 season, he has already been outpaced and qualified by his teammate Sebastian Vettel, the latter missing out first two races of the season due to Covid-19.

Lance has been on points thrice this season with all P10 finishes, on the other hand, Sebastian has been on P6-P8 and P10 in three of the races he managed to finish on points. Seb has also completely out-qualified his teammate on Saturdays, with more Q3 appearances than the young Canadian.

“I still feel like I’m not really that confident in the car and feeling very precise, and just predictable in the car,” Lance said.

Stroll continued “I think I’ve still got to keep working to get back to the place that felt like I was in last year, or the year before, where it was just more predictable and more comfortable,”

Lance Stroll in-depth struggles with his car

Lance went in-depth to find out the struggles he is having to outperform his car and mentions the car to be a “difficult” one to driver. 

“I think it’s the car characteristic, they are very stiff, and maybe the set-up. I’m not driving anyone else’s car so I don’t know,” Lance said.

The driver wants to compare his stats to his years much better than this one, “But we’ve just got to keep working and understanding, because it’s definitely more challenging this year than the last few years just to get into a happy place and rhythm, and all that kind of stuff.”

Lance concluded his interview with a few insights on the future upgrades the AMR-22 might see, “Downforce and stuff is coming, it all helps,” said Aston driver.

Aston Martin is P9 in the constructor championship with 16 points, with drivers on P14 and P18 respectively.
