Sebastian Vettel has always proved to be a strong driver at the Yas Marina Circuit, and the recently concluded qualifying session was just another example of how well he has performed at the venue over the years.

Going into the quali session, it was very much evident from the start that Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari were going to occupy the top 6 places during Q3. However, for the rest of the grid slots, it was an extremely close affair between the rest of the teams.

There is a saying that goes, “cometh the hour, cometh the man” and this is exactly what Sebastian Vettel did for the Aston Martin F1 Team. Despite having lesser machinery in comparison to the top dogs in the midfield, he was able to get his team a P9 start for the upcoming race.

He did an amazing job during the session and while stressing about it after qualifying, he added, “I think it was coming alive. I felt really comfortable at the end of Q1 and Q2.”

“I would have liked to have another set in Q3, but all in all it was a good session for us and we could qualify the car in a decent spot.”

It was a bit emotional before quali and I am sure it will be tomorrow, but we have a big task on our hands as well to beat the Alfa’s to hopefully get the 6th in the constructors, but we will see what we can do.”

The 35-year-old is quite pleased with his outing but is well aware, that the job is still only half done. Aston Martin is currently trailing Alfa Romeo in the Constructors championship by 5 points and Vettel wants to change that at the end of tomorrow’s race.

P9 is a decent starting position for the final race of the 2022 F1 season and considering it also happens to be the German’s final F1 outing, it will be fascinating to see him spread his magic over the tarmac one last time.

Would Sebastian Vettel be able to help Aston Martin in getting up to P6 in the Constructors Championship?
