Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner was accused of inappropriate behavior by a female employee of the team. The Briton was put under an independent investigation by Red Bull GmbH which cleared the 50-year-old of all allegations. However, as per Business F1 magazine, the lawyer in-charge of the investigation had close links to Horner’s key ally.
Christian Horner is believed to have the support of Red Bull’s Thai majority shareholder Chalerm Yoovidhya. The 50-year-old reportedly solidified his place at Milton Keynes after a Red Bull meeting in Dubai with Yoovidhya’s full faith on Horner.
According to the latest issue of Business F1 magazine, the independent lawyer was not independent. Rather, he “carried out their instructions.” The magazine claimed that the barrister is the legal representative of Chalerm Yoovidhya’s family.
Moreover, Business F1 magazine states that the lawyer does not hide his connection with the majority Red Bull shareholder. The magazine claimed to know his name and the law firm as well. Moreover, the report states that the barrister is over the age of 70 with immense experience in matters of business, such as mergers and acquisitions.
Chalerm Yoovidhya reportedly gave a mandate for Christian Horner investigation
As per Business F1 magazine, Chalerm Yoovidhya instructed the lawyer to form a report which would clear Christian Horner of all accusations made by the employee. The magazine further claims that the 200-page report on the investigation only had a small portion comprising of the allegations. With the majority filled by Horner’s achievements as the Red Bull Team Principal.
Additionally, the magazine believes that everyone at Red Bull, including Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko were aware of Yoovidhya’s links with the lawyer. However, no one could publicly reveal this information as the Thai billionaire controls a majority stake in the energy drinks giant.
It must be noted that there is no official information regarding the identity of the lawyer involved in Christian Horner’s investigation. Moreover, Red Bull GmbH did not release any details of the investigation after Horner was cleared of all allegations. As such, the Business F1 magazine report should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.
