“Isack Hadjar could be seen in F1 in 2024”: Helmut Marko dishes on the potential candidates for the second AlphaTauri seat in 2024

The Red Bull driver academy is one of the biggest if not the biggest academy currently having a huge stock of drivers waiting to jump into an F1 car. Filled with amazing talents like Jehan Daruvala, Liam Lawson, Ayumu Iwasa, the Red Bull Drivers Academy is definitely one of the most competitive places to be in as all these drivers are fighting for an Alpha Tauri seat that might pop up in the future.

However among all of these drivers, one driver has been showing his immense talent. Isaac Hajdar, currently second in the Formula 3 championship – trailing the championship leader by one point, has been hinted as a possible candidate for the 2024 season in the Alpha Tauri if a seat opens up. Helmut Marko has commented that if the 17 year old Isaac Hajdar keeps on performing consistently he might end up in F1.

Isaac Hajdar won his first race in the 2022 F3 season during the Austrian Grand Prix. The Frenchman took pole position and victory in Monaco in the Formula Regional championship in May 2021. Helmut Marko noticed this and inducted him into the Red Bull Junior Academy from 2022 onwards.

In a conversation with AutoHebdo, Helmut Marko said, “If he performs well in F2, there is a good chance that Isack Hadjar could be seen in F1 in 2024.” Even though Pierre Gasly has signed a contract with Alpha Tauri till the end of 2023, it is quite unlikely that he would want to continue with the Red Bull B team. Now that Perez has signed a long term contract with Red Bull, it is pretty sure that Pierre Gasly won’t get promoted to Red Bull in the near future.

Yuki Tsunoda has not yet signed a contract with Alpha Tauri for 2023. He has been achieving mixed results for the team this season and it’s not sure if his contract will be renewed for the future. Therefore it is quite an open contest for the Alpha Tauri seat. It is to be seen who can perform consistently and grab the opportunity when it comes their way.
