“It always brings memories back,” Lewis Hamilton hints at Abu Dhabi while applauding the ‘accurate’ Safety Car finish at Monza

Lewis Hamilton who lost a record eighth championship to Max Verstappen at Abu Dhabi

The Italian Grand Prix was not without its excitement and drama but ended on a rather dull note with the cars finishing the race behind the Safety Car. This brought back memories for the Seven time World Champion Lewis Hamilton as it reminded him of his race with Max Verstappen at Abu Dhabi last year, which was in turn won by Max making him the World Champion in 2021.

The fans were not pleased to see the race end behind the Safety Car as they were expecting more action on track and some exciting overtakes which were all made naught by the arrival of the Safety Car. The SC was especially frustrating for Carlos Sainz who was gaining on George Russell and would have been able to secure a second podium for Ferrari but was unable to do so because of the arrival of the Safety Car.

Lewis Hamilton finished fifth behind the Safety Car and Carlos Sainz and was quite pleased as the Mercedes did not have the required pace this season to compete and fifth was the best position he could have gotten, given the circumstances.

Will Lewis Hamilton win his 8th championship title?

Lewis Hamilton is currently in his 16th year as a Formula 1 driver and has won a total of 7 World Championship putting him on par with the great Michael Schumacher. Many believed that after the defeat last season, Mercedes would come back stronger this season and Hamilton would be fighting for his 8th title.

However, that was not the case as the team was unable to produce a car capable of competing for the world title and has been stuck in the 3rd place in the constructor championship. The car lacks the required pace to compete with Ferrari and Red Bull and this has been a big blow to Hamilton as his hopes for a 8th title this season have been extinguished.

The 37 year old driver hopes to come back stronger next season and fight for the title next season, surpassing Schumacher and becoming the greatest F1 driver in the world. He still has the fire within him to fight with the young drivers on the grid and has made his intentions to win clear to the fans.
