“It does look shit,” Sebastian Vettel, along with other F1 drivers, make fun of the Mercedes W13 in Drive to Survive Season 5
The wait is over for the Formula One: Drive to Survive fans, in the first episode there is a hilarious exchange regarding the W13's design.

The most anticipated show in the Formula One world, Drive to Survive, just dropped its fifth season. Hardly 10 minutes into the first episode titled “ The New Dawn”, the drivers are seen inspecting the cars on the grid. They gathered around the Mercedes W13, and Sebastian Vettel was the first to give his opinion.
The four-time world champion did not hold back and confessed his dislike for the car. “ I have to say, it does look like shit,” said Vettel to George Russell. The Mercedes driver immediately defended himself, stating he did not design the car. Vettel is well-known for his cheeky behavior and openness. It was quite brutal and honest of him to say that.
It was a funny exchange between the drivers. Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, and Sergio Perez also teased Russell. When Leclerc asked Russell, “What is this ?” The young Briton told them again that he had nothing to do with its design. Hamilton soon came into the picture and stated that Ferrari had everything sorted, they had the best-looking car on the grid. He mentioned it looked a lot different from theirs, the W13. It was a collective agreement that Ferrari looked amazing.
Mercedes W13 was undoubtedly hideous, but the W14 is the opposite of it
Though Russell was unimpressed with the W13’s design, he looked forward to it being fast. “As long as it’s fast, who cares ?” Mercedes W13 is a car the team and the fans will want to forget. It started with porpoising and went from bad to worse, giving Sir Lewis Hamilton severe back pain in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. It did get better eventually, and the team resolved the issue in the second half of the season.
The car not only did not look appealing, but its performance also was not up to the standards. However, things have changed for the Mercedes AMG Petronas, as they have the best-looking car on the grid for the 2023 season. The W14 is too stunning not to win, according to public opinion. Everything is looking up for Mercedes so far.
The W14 does not have porpoising issues and looks gorgeous. But, can this car take the fight up to the others and win another championship? There is no question of reliability for Mercedes. They have always had it sorted. The only focus now is to enhance the performance. The pre-season testing is underway, and the Drive to Survive new season is out. The 2023 Formula One season is to begin in the first week of March. The fans have their plates full.
