“It is a really desirable seat and Checo has it.” Jolyon Palmer believes it’s a win-win for both Sergio Perez and Red Bull
Sergio Perez after winning in Monaco today
Jolyon Palmer is pleased with the decision Sergio Perez and Red Bull took to stick together till 2024, but this decision still troubles a lot of people. Fernando Alonso who was looking to move on with his career at the age of 40, was hoping to see himself in the top car fighting for the championship. Pierre Gasly who has been proving himself for quite some time now has been looking for that seat only to let it go.
The news of Perez signing for Red Bull was rumoured to be in talks after the Monaco Grand Prix. Perez mentioned signing for the team as “too early” because the win would have allowed him to bargain a lot more. But signing still happened and Palmer was glad it did.
“Because winning in Monaco would have given him more negotiating room,” Palmer told the F1 TV.

Relationship between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez according to Jolyon Palmer
Palmer talked about the relationship the teammates will be carrying ahead in the season and after will be great. With Perez now a contender for the title, Max might find himself being less privileged at times ahead in the season. But Palmer disagrees with the rivalry if there will be any.
He also talks about the perfect teammates teams are looking for to make their campaign much more stronger, and the Austrian team has got that already. “They get along well, Checo and Max (Verstappen). Ferrari locked in their duo, Mercedes did the same with Lewis and George Russell. It is a really desirable seat , and Checo has it,” said Palmer.
Red Bull is having a great season ahead of them if it comes down to the points in the last few races, they are 36 points ahead of their rivals Ferrari. Max and Perez have already got Charles Leclerc covered from top and bottom in the Championship table.
