“It is essential to be ahead of Ferrari,” Max Verstappen lays down the importance of the Imola GP following an inconsistent start to the season

Max Verstappen out of Australian GP
The reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen has had an awful start to the season as he suffered two DNFs. While Max’s car broke down, he saw his rivals in Ferrari take full advantage of the situation. There is already a very big gap between Red Bull and Ferrari. This gap needs to be reduced and covered by Red Bull but it will require hardwork and dedication by everyone, starting right from the people at the factory, all the way to the drivers.
The issue with Red Bull has been very irritating for the Red Bull and dutchman’s fans across the world. He was able to finish only 1 out of the 3 possible races this season. This led to Red Bull and Max Verstappen missing out on the points which were important for the Championship. Although it is only the beginning, taking quick actions is now necessary for Red Bull.
Max Verstappen feels that Ferrari has the better car and are in a commanding position. Max believes that their car is more balanced. With better reliability, tires and pace it is going to be tough to defeat Ferrari but not impossible. All of Red Bull’s issues need to be solved before giving away any more points because that’ll end up increasing the gap between them and their rivals. The fourth round of racing is coming up in Formula One and Max has 5 drivers above him in the drivers championship standings.

In an interview, Max said, “It is not enough to be competitive if your equipment is not reliable. It is essential to win this race and be ahead of Ferrari. Currently Ferrari is fast, reliable and better with the tires. These are all aspects we still need to improve on,” as per gpblog.
The race format will see a change at Imola. The drivers will be battling it out for pole on Friday for the sprint race on Saturday, which in turn decide their final starting position on Sunday. With the changed format, the top 8 drivers in the sprint race will also be getting points. All these points are very important and especially for Red Bull.
