Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel announced that he will be retiring from a sport a few weeks back. This took the whole paddock by shock although some fans had seen it coming. After a horrid year with Ferrari in 2020, Sebastian left the team to join Aston Martin with hopes of getting a competitive car. These hopes were washed down the drain when both him and the team realised that the car wasn’t as good as it was expected it to be. Vettel was partnered up with Lawrence Stroll’s son Lance Stroll to drive the AM.

After completing his first year with the team, Sebastian Vettel thought that things would get much better with the 2022 season having new rules and regulations for the team to play with. This unfortunately didn’t go his way as the Aston Martin Challenger got even slower this year proving to be a massive disappointment for the team, the drivers and especially the fans. The regulations haven’t been too kind on the British team which has translated into poor results for them. The drivers have hardly made it out of Q1 all through this season.

Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel shares his thoughts on the circuit. The German driver expressed his excitement to drive on he track after a year. This will also be the last time that the 4 time world champion drives a F1 car on this track unless something changes and he gets back into the sport. Sebastian is off the opinion that the 2022 cars can produce better racing at the track compared to the 2021 race. Vettel shares a few of his thoughts.

Sebastian Vettel further went on to give a few of his thoughts on the upcoming weekend. “The old-school nature of Zandvoort is so great, and it is such a fantastic driving challenge, particularly the first half of the track,” he said.

“I am curious to see how our car will perform here – on paper, it might be a difficult weekend for us, but we were able to race well in Hungary just before the summer break, and the circuits are quite similar. The 2022 cars can be raced better than last year’s cars, so we will see if we can make some moves in the race,” he continued.

It is unfortunate to see the world champion leave the sport at the end of the season. Fernando Alonso on the other hand will be replacing Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin. This seems to be either the greatest move or the worst move possible. We’ll see what happens in the future. For now all the cheer and excitement is towards Max Verstappen’s home GP at Zandvoort.
