“It made things complex,” McLaren reveals Lando Norris’ time penalty complicated their strategy for the Austrian GP

Lando Norris

McLaren have been having a hot and this year coping up with the new regulations and Strategies for this season. on top of this Daniel Ricciardo himself has not been scoring many points for the team and Lando Norris scored of few points including one DNF which has caused the team to lose a great number of points. Even though the team stands only fourth right behind my Mercedes, the gap between the two teams is relatively huge and it is almost impossible for them to cover up their cars don’t upgrade and improve enough.

McLaren’s Day At The Red Bull Ring in Austria was relatively difficult but they still manage to finish up the race better after improvising their strategy. The FIA was really strict about the track limits on the track and many tribals including Lando Norris got a 5-second penalty for crossing the track limit over four times. started the race in front of each other land on a Sun 10th and annual regarding on 11th but unfortunately due to land on this is 5 second time penalty he had to stop in the Pret Lane for longer and with saw him lose positions.

Due to the time penalty on Lando, the team had to react quickly to all of their Strategies and had to bring a major change which ultimately help them to make both the drivers finish and points and give a total of 8 points to the team in the race.

“Lando’s penalty made the second stop a little complex. It was actually less to do with the cars that were physically around us like the Haas of Magnussen and Russell in the Mercedes because, in reality, those cars are five seconds ahead of Lando, and we were not really in a tactical battle with them anymore,” GPBlog quoted Randy Singh, the team’s strategist.

McLaren stands with 81 points on 4th, right behind Mercedes, but are in danger from Alpine who also have managed to score 82 points after the race in Austria.
