“It was a build up from one race to next,” Nico Rosberg reveals timeline of his rivalry with Lewis Hamilton
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were teammates in Mercedes till 2016, it is uncommon in F1 for teammates to share a rivalry, but it is rare to see a rivalry between teammates like both of them did. Throughout the 2015 and 2016 season, Hamilton and Rosberg were the championship contenders after the team’s domination started in the hybrid era. The 2015 championship was secured by the Brit, but Rosberg came in wild during the 2016 season and clenched the title, right before announcing his retirement from the sport. One of the infamous moments was the Spanish Grand Prix of 2016, where both Silver Arrows took each other out.
The rivalry had gotten so toxic that it made Rosberg retire from the sport. The Finnish driver recently revealed that the rivalry between both the teammates started exactly at the point when they were contending for the championship, not anytime before that. “But that’s always the case – when you’re fighting for success in every race and for titles, it doesn’t work anymore,” PlanetF1 quoted him.

Nico Rosberg has nothing to regret now
When talking about the current time, Rosberg stated that whatever happened in the past, he has nothing to regret, and also stated that they might as well go head-to-head in one or the other way.
“I don’t regret anything,” he said. “That was a sensational time and a mega fight. I’m very proud of that. In the meantime, we’ve returned to neutral, which is okay. And the funny thing is we are fighting each other again in Extreme E,” he concluded.
Hamilton currently stands 6th in the standings with 109 points.
