“It’s embarrassing for Lewis,” F1 fans mock Hamilton after George Russell outperforms teammate on Day 1 in Miami

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton

George Russell has been a thorn in the flesh for the seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, in the first four races of the season. Mercedes’ prodigy has got the better of the veteran in his short stint with the British manufacturers. We all expected George Russell to slowly come to pace with his new team but the 24 year old has wasted no time in getting the round running for his new employers.

Like everyone else, George Russell is an admirer of Lewis Hamilton for what he has been able to achieve in the sport but at the same time, like any other team mate, he wants to trounce him on the race track. We all know the immense talent that he possesses keeping in mind the amazing performances he had produced for a sub par team like Williams.

The question that loomed over everyone’s head was whether he could replicate the same level of performances with a top notch team like Mercedes. He has demolished all sort of speculations around his ability and mentality. George Russell has gone a step ahead by outqualifying and finishing ahead of the legend, Lewis Hamilton.

It is well documented how difficult it is to be Lewis Hamilton’s team mate but George has cherished that opportunity and taken the fight to his team mate. We saw nothing different in Miami as Lewis Hamilton yet again came up short in his battle with his team mate.

“It’s very embarrassing for Lewis, he gets atomized by his teammate once again. I’m afraid for tomorrow.”

Despite Lewis Hamilton’s issues, George Russell has played the perfect team game by backing him publicly. In a recent interview to SkySports, he said, “Lewis has clearly got the pace. He’s incredibly fast and he’s showed that so far this year, but it’s just been tricky for us as a team to get it done when the time is needed.”

“We all want more. He wants more. Nobody is happy with the position we’re in currently.”

George Russell is definitely a great addition to Mercedes but if things continue to say the same, he might take Lewis Hamilton’s place which will not go down well with the former champion. For the time being, it’s been the George Russell show for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton has his work cut out if he wants to regain supremacy at Mercedes.
