“It’s incredible, he’s done an amazing job,” Lewis Hamilton full of praise for George Russell following his first podium at the Australian GP

The British driver, Lewis Hamilton, has not had an awful start to the season but he’s surely not where he would’ve wanted to be. With 3 races done, Hamilton is 5th in the drivers championship standings while his teammate is in the 2nd position. Hamilton has a big gap in front of him and in order to narrow it down, some exceptional work will be required to be done from Mercedes and Hamilton’s end.
After a decent performance at the Australian Grand Prix, Mercedes would be looking forward to making the Italian Grand Prix an even better one for both their drivers and the team. Although they are nowhere near Ferrari and Red Bull in terms of pace, they would still be eyeing a podium finish.
In an interview with Formula One, Lewis Hamilton said, “I prefer to stay optimistic. There are 20 races to go. If you think realistically with the way our sport goes in terms of everyone’s development, the top teams often develop at a similar pace, a similar rate. Will that be the case with this new car? Who knows, but I am really, really hopeful we can get in the fight soon.”

Lewis Hamilton happy with George Russel
“It’s incredible, he’s done an amazing job. He did an amazing job today, had great pace, he’s been so solid these first three races. He’s working and really grafting away; he’s doing an amazing job,” said Lewis Hamilton after the Australian Grand Prix.
Mercedes being a top team would be looking forward to winning the championship but they are miles away from doing so. A lot of work will be required back in the factory and some brilliant performances by the drivers on track.
