Lando Norris has indicated that it is just crazy to see former four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel in a negative light, according to him the German is a role model for many on and off the track.
Sebastian Vettel has called it quits in Formula One at the end of the 2022 Formula One season and has indicated that the reason behind his decision is to spend more time with his family.
Sebastian Vettel is walking away from the sport after a career of more than 15 years during which he was able to win an impressive 53 Grand Prix. However, there were times when his antics divide the paddock into two halves.
The 35-year-old, during his run of four consecutive titles, was not a favorite among the fans of teams other than Red Bull, and he also managed to create a bit of internal conflict with the infamous ‘Multi-21’ incident with Mark Webber.
In recent times, the Aston Martin driver has received criticism for his activism from people saying he should focus more on his on-track exploits compared to what he does of it.
Lando Norris is an ardent supporter of Sebastian Vettel
While Sebastian Vettel has received criticism for many things during his tenure as an F1 driver, Lando Norris feels that he is one of the good guys in the sport.
Moreover, while appreciating Vettel, Norris said, “I don’t think enough people know how good Seb is just as a human, as a guy.”
“His morals, his character, and everything, he means so well in everything and is just so passionate in his job.”
“And somehow people portray him in a bad way sometimes which if you know him well, you can never imagine he would do such a thing.”
“But that’s just life. That’s what happens in the world nowadays. It’s just crazy.”
Lando Norris is full of wise words for the German as he believes that Vettel always has time for a quick chat even though they are rivals. The brit has further added, “Just as a person, he is always up for a chat or is always there to help and I guess maybe more so over the last few years since I’ve been in Formula 1.”
“He’s not been fighting for World Championships and all that stuff so maybe he feels more open to speaking to us, the younger generation, about things whatever it is with racing or life away from Formula 1.”
“He’s always open for a chat which is always something you admire and have a lot of respect for. We’re also such big competitors at the same time.”
Lando Norris has the utmost respect for the kind of human Sebastian Vettel is and feels that he is one of those rare guys who is always there for people whenever someone asks him for advice, be it about F1 or life in general.
Vettel is saying goodbye at the end of the 2022 F1 season and with only 9 races left on the calendar, it is going to be crucial that Aston Martin gives him the best possible package to make sure his last stint in F1 is one to remember.
