“It’s not our decision,” Sebastian Vettel ends speculation of being involved in Aston Martin car design

Sebastian Vettel cleared out the speculations of the influence he and his teammate had on the new AMR22, which is supposedly being called out to be a “Green Red Bull”. AMR22 version 2 when compared to the RB18 doesn’t seem to have much of a difference. It has also been rumours, that the RB design was given to the Green team by insiders who were given an opportunity to work with the team. Red Bull is pushing for legal actions if evidence can be found.

Legal or not, the Aston Martin team has been seeing positive results after introducing it in the Spanish Grand Prix. On verge of getting a point in Spain, they did it on the streets of Monaco. They aren’t flying as such but are still complimenting the midfield very often.

But the question still asked, were the driver involved in the making of “inspired” AMR22.

The four-time world champion cleared all the doubts it created,  “It’s not our decision. It’s entirely up to the team, the engineers, mostly the aerodynamic department, to lead the way and then for everybody else to have the headache of solving the problems,” explained Vettel.

Aston Martin this season has been struggling a lot, with the new regulations affecting a lot of teams, they got it in the worst way. The 34-year old explained it to be a tough start forcing them to bring out their second version, which apparently was on wind tunnels before the start of the season.

“So from a design point of view, the team didn’t want to be stuck one way. The time when both cars, in a way, were in the [wind] tunnel was very early, right before the season started.” said Seb.

The ultimate reason to stick with this car was the difficulties the old one was going through, but with a positive result in the recent races, they went on the way of the new version of AMR22.

“But with the previous car that we had, we saw there were some difficulties like other teams are also facing and are struggling with. We didn’t manage to really make big, big progress but we believe this is the better direction.”

Aston is 9th on the championship table with 7 points in their bag.
