“It’s still under evaluation,” Carlos Sainz indecisive about whether to take or not to take a Grid Penalty at the French GP

Carlos Sainz
Carlos Sainz is suspected to take a Grid Penalty after taking engine components out of the limit. Charles Leclerc, Calos’ teammate took the engine penalty back in the Canadian GP. Carlos has displayed an incredible amount of pace in the last two weeks. He has been side to side with Charles a few times fighting for the lead. But things don’t look for Ferrari because of their high-reliability issues. They have already suffered 6 DNF causing them to bulk in the championship behind Red Bull. With losing points with engine blowups comes a time to take a new engine ruining two races with one problem.
Carlos in Austria was super fast and was fighting Max Verstappen for second place. He almost took charge of Verstappen going to overtake him but lost control of his car with his engine literally blowing up into flames and he had to retire from the race forcefully. Carlos was already up on combustion engines, turbos and MGU-Hs, so it would mean a penalty every time he takes these components.
“It’s still under evaluation, we are still looking at all the available options,” Sainz told Formula1.com.
Carlos Sainz on France GP is an apt option for an Engine Penalty or not

France GP is considered one of the most boring races on the calendar with no overtakes and races to end as they started. Last year was a bit spicy with Max and Lewis fighting for the lead, but this time around things aren’t that simple. Carlos still questions on an apt decision to make an engine change in the French GP.
“We also need to see a bit how the overtaking is here, how everything comes into play you know with the heat, the tyres and we will make a decision but obviously there is a chance it will happen, ” said Carlos Sainz.
Charles Leclerc after taking a penalty in Canada is planning for another one in Belgium. With a lot of overtaking chances in Spa, it would be a reasonable decision to make an engine change there.
