It was recently revealed that Volkswagen plans to enter F1 by 2026 with the engines of Porsche and Audi. This certainly brings a new side to the sport as these brands have never been in the sport before, and could be an exciting venture for the teams, as well as for the brands.

It is being said that Red Bull might as well be linked to the Porsche engine, while Audi could create a team of their own for the sport.

Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner has said that it would be logical for the team to make a deal with Porsche, as they (Red Bull) are looking forward to building their own power unit by 2026 as well. So obviously, it would be logical enough for a different brand to take care of the engine instead of Red Bull themselves. Until last year. Red Bull was powered from Honda’s engine in the same way.

“It is obviously great, the commitment that VW stated, as a parent company to both Porsche and Audi, that they’ve both got the intent of going into Formula 1,” said Horner, as quoted by RacingNews365.

There is nothing to report for the deal as of now, says Christian.

When asked by reporters, the team principal said that it is still too early to report about any such deals being made, to which he also added that if any deal of this sort would be talked about, the media would be the first one to know.

At the same time, Volkswagen has made it clear that they would be in F1, with FIA negotiations underway.

Christian Horner also predicted that the coming of new teams into the sport could lead to conflict, as money plays a major role in Formula 1 now than it has ever before.

Post round 5 of this year’s championship, Red Bull stand 2nd in the constructors’ championship with 151 points, just a little below Ferrari with 157 points.
