“It’s the second year in a row, it’s a shame,” Max Verstappen furious with unlucky end to Monaco GP qualifying
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen is starting in the fourth position for the Monaco Grand Prix, he failed to reach the top three for the second time this season, the last time being in Jeddah. Max was not allowed to finish the second hot lap in Q3, credit to the crash his teammate faced.
The Red Bull hasn’t been having one of the best weekends in Monaco, he has been struggling to get his car on equal terms with the Ferrari, although his teammate managed to get there quite nicely.
Max wasn’t impressed with his car’s performance, but appreciated the rivals and mentioned Charles with the lap he managed for the pole, “It was unfortunate. In general, it was obviously a pretty tough weekend for me. The last lap was a bit better. In the end a decent pole for Charles [Leclerc] and Ferrari; they were very strong.” said the Red Bull driver in conversation with Viaplay.
The regaining Champion was also stressed about the red flags and crashes not allowing him to complete his laps for the second year in a row. 2021 Monaco qualification had something similar to the latest one, the crash deciding the pole position. With Leclerc crashing the barriers last year it was Sergio Perez who spun and damaged his rear completely, the reason why Max had to abort his second run in Q3.
“You could have been better for it, but this is also Monaco with the red flag and in the end, I’m fourth. It’s the second year in a row, it’s a shame,” he said.

Red Bull vs Ferrari, the one better in Monaco till now?
With Ferrari starting P1-2 for Sunday’s race and Red Bull just behind them on the second row, it was the Italian who ran the show throughout. Bull has troubles when it comes to slow speed corners and with Monaco topping the list of slow turns it was evident for the team to struggle here.
Max Verstappen also praised the Italians for the pace they showed up with, “We still have to look at qualifying, but that car [Ferrari] is running very well.”, he also talked about his struggles with understeering, “I had more understeer than I wanted. That doesn’t help on a track like Monaco where that car has to run fast,” reported GP Blog.
With a possibility of Rain tomorrow it could turn out to be anyone for the victory but currently, the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc seems to have the upper hand.
