“It’s totally undiminished,” Christian Horner points out Max Verstappen’s incessant hunger to win yet another title
Christian Horner and Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen might not have had the best start to the season but Christian Horner believes that his desire to defend his maiden title hasn’t diminished by any stretch of the imagination. The Dutchman has had a mixed bag of results with 1 win and 2 DNFs to his name. The problem is twofold. Firstly, Max Verstappen hasn’t been able to replicate last year’s performance and secondly, Charles Leclerc has been in sublime touch.
Red Bull has had a huge role to play in Max Verstappen’s inconsistency. The reigning world champion, if given the right car, is the fastest driver on track. But, Red Bull and Christian Horner have not been able to give Max a car which is the perfect blend of reliability and raw pace. While Sergio Perez has been so much comfortable on the new RB-18, Max Verstappen doesn’t seem to have the answers to deal with the oversteer.
While Red Bull tries to fix its issues, Max Verstappen also has to make sure that he keeps on picking up the bits and pieces or else he could find himself in an uncomfortable position, come the end of the season. Ferrari and Charles Leclerc seemed to have Max Verstappen’s number in the first two races as the Dutchman looked helpless. Except Jeddah, Charles has stoked two flawless performances.
Christian Horner believes Max Verstappen still has the desire to defend his title following his slow start
Max Verstappen might be down but he’s not out and he will try his level best to strike back as soon as possible. Christian Horner substantiated that assumption. He recently said, “I look with pride at the fighting spirit Verstappen brings to the track and off. “It’s totally undiminished.”
“He’s gaining more experience but his desire and hunger is just what it was the first time he stepped into a car.”
“Although the Dutchman achieved his big goal of winning the world championship, I saw no rest in Verstappen for the time being,” as reported by gpblog.
Charles Leclerc might have a 46 points lead right now but things can change pretty quickly when you Max Verstappen looking for a mistake to pounce on. The situation can change pretty quickly if Red Bull fixes its issues.
