7-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is a delight to work with, according to George Russell, who also notes that his outstanding reputation is the result of hard work. The young British racer says he learns a great deal from the Hamilton and finds it motivational and inspirational.

Russell, who switched from Williams to Mercedes, has enjoyed a successful opening to the season despite the W13’s inability to match Ferrari’s F1-75 and Red Bull Racing’s RB18. The 24-year-old British driver has already won three podium finishes, consistently placed in the top five, and gained World Championship points in each of the 9 races this season.

George Russell is hailed as ‘Mr. Consistency’ of the paddock given his consistent results throughout the season as of yet. Lewis Hamilton, Russell’s teammate is not having a very good season. The Briton is having issues with his Mercedes W13 and is currently unable to compete for victories. Additionally, he is no longer the team’s fastest racer.

“Many people think Lewis comes in at the last minute and jumps in the car, but his successes are the result of hard work. It’s a pleasure to watch Lewis and his engineers trying to squeeze every millisecond out of the car. Sometimes I watch from a distance how that works. It’s very inspiring and motivating,” said Russell with reference to his experience of having Hamilton as his teammate at Mercedes.

But it is not a question of copy-paste. Every driver has his own style. What works for Lewis doesn’t have to work for me, but of course you pick up things from each other,” added Russell in terms of learning new things from Hamilton over the course of time.
